In 2013, we ran our first accelerator programme, with start-ups from Cyprus, UK, and Turkey participating. 65 applications came in and 25 teams were accepted to participate in the programme.
The teams took part in two 2-day intensive workshops, at the end of which the top 5 were selected and received further training through 6 follow-up masterclasses over a 3-month period. The whole programme ended with a successful Demo Day, where the selected start-ups pitched their ideas to an audience of peers, industry experts, and investors. One of the top 5 teams was invited to join Climate-KIC's 18-month accelerator programme as a result of their progress.
A Climate-KIC representative attended the Demo Day, who was very excited with what he had seen and it was the start of a healthy relationship with the largest clean-tech accelerator in the world.
