Our initiatives

SCIENT is a European University - Business Alliance aiming to foster young SCIentists' ENTrepreneurial spirit. The project is co-funded by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union which started on January 1st 2015 and ran for 3 years.

Chrysalis LEAP is one of the partners to the project. SCIENT launched an innovative entrepreneurship programme for PhD STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) students and graduates that focused on the development of their transversal skills and provided them with a new professional path.

Following the pilot testing of the program in the partner countries in the course of 2016, the SCIENT Entrepreneurship Academy and Business Competition took place in Nicosia Cyprus in September 2017. 35 STEM PhD students and graduates were selected from the 7 participating EU countries to take part in the 2-day Entrepreneurship Academy program and pitching event which concluded with a 2-day Competition for the best business idea.

All young scientists presented their business plans to a panel of representatives from Business Angels and Venture Capital firms from around Europe, giving them the opportunity to obtain funding and realize their business idea through the creation of their own start-up.
